Hiring Domestic Help? Know your Responsibilities 

A Household Employer is defined as someone who pays an individual to perform duties in or around their home. Household employees include, among others: nannies, senior care workers, and private nurses. These employees are recruited for personal assistance and help around the house and not for commercial purposes, temping or sub-contracting. 

Here's what you need to know:

• VAT and PE Number Requirement

  As a household employer, you have specific obligations, one of which includes obtaining VAT and PE numbers. You can get these from the Office of the Commissioner for Revenue (CFR).

• Employee Engagement Form

  Unlike self-employed individuals, you do not need to submit a self-engagement form. However, you are required to fill out engagement forms for each of your household employees.
