You need to be aware of legal aspects like employment conditions, tax regulations, and specific employment laws in Malta. This includes providing proper benefits, handling taxes correctly, and following employment laws and regulations. Hiring Domestic Help? Know your responsibilities

When you hire someone to assist with personal or household tasks, you become what is known as a household employer. This role comes with certain responsibilities: 

1. VAT and PE Number Requirement: As a household employer, you have specific obligations, one of which is obtaining VAT and PE numbers. These are crucial for legal and tax purposes. You can get these numbers from the Office of the Commissioner for Revenue (CFR). 
2. Employee Engagement Form: Unlike in self-employment, you do not need to submit a self-employed engagement form. However, you are required to fill out and submit engagement forms for each of your household employees.
