Joining the European Union in 2004, gave the Maltese citizen the opportunity to work in any European country.
As time goes on, workers are becoming more mobile, travelling to other EU countries and exploring new opportunities. Particularly for a small island like Malta, this is often considered an opportunity to discover the ‘world’ beyond us.
Settling in a new country and finding a new job is a hectic and stressful process. For this reason, the European Union has purposely set up the European Employment Services, referred to as EURES.
EURES is a European-wide network in 31 countries (the EU Member States plus Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Switzerland). EURES operates within the public employment services organisations of these countries and offers a number of services aimed at facilitating the mobility of workers.
EURES provides information and advice on employment opportunities in other European countries, as well as information on conditions of work, health and safety issues, accommodation, the education, health care, training opportunities, transport, culture and the general lifestyle in particular countries. EURES has a human network of more than 700 advisers that are in daily contact with jobseeker and employers across Europe. It also has an extensive web portal will all the information you may need:
http://ec.europa.eu.
At ETC, we have a number of qualified EURES advisers who are able to guide you with a wealth of information on living & working in a country of your choice.
So, if working abroad has been on your mind, send us an email on:
